Spiritual Graduation!!

Most of us have begun seeing all those TV commercials which talk about everything a young boy or girl needs as they get ready to go back to school.

The commercials feature what school supplies a student will need, to the clothes they will wear and even what backpack they will need to carry all those school supplies and books they will need for school.

My parents didn’t have the money I needed for my school supplies and clothes so I got only the essentials of what I would need for the new school year.

I always thought when I was going to school, I will be glad when the time comes when I graduate and I won’t have to attend school anymore, take those crazy tests and deal with teachers I didn’t like. That will be a great day!!!

Little did I know that once I finished school and got my diploma, many of the friends I made in school, I would most likely never see again. Those annoying assemblies which in all reality weren’t that bad, I would never see again. It didn’t take very long for me to begin to miss all the fun stuff of school, things I never thought were fun.

I now entered the school of life and to be honest, the school of life was much more difficult than any of my days in school. I had to work and talk about having to take tests. I encountered people at work that were more difficult to get along with than anyone in school.

I had bosses which were much worse than any teacher I had in school. I had bills to pay, responsibilities I never had in school and list went on and on. Going to school suddenly didn’t sound as bad as I thought it did.

Those 12 years of school we had to endure prepared us to what we would face in the school of life, but many of us didn’t recognize that back in school

Paul said to young Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:6-8 the time for his departure had come. Paul had kept the faith; he had finished his race. The crown of righteousness, which the Lord would award to Paul, was in store for him.

I have some memories of the day I graduated high school. Most of those memories were of me acting and doing crazy stuff with others, none which was good.

I want to finish my race well; I want to know I’ve kept the faith as best as I could. I want to hear those wonderful words from my Lord Jesus Christ: “Well done My good and faithful servant!”

My dear friend, we are still in school whether we know it or not. There’s a graduation day coming for all. What do you want to hear on that day??
