Becoming Fully Aware!!

We’ve all had those moments in life when the light bulb goes off in our minds; where we finally get something we had trouble at one time understanding. It’s in those moments we wonder why in the world we did not notice that in the first place.

In our local newspaper, tucked way back in the classified section, they have a cartoon drawing called ‘Hocus-Focus’ which shows two cartoon drawings, that to the human eye look exactly the same. In these two cartoon drawings, which look exactly the same, you are asked to find 6 different details in the drawings.

I have no idea how I got hooked on doing this, but at times I have pulled out my hair, trying to find the 6 different things in the cartoon drawings. Some of the differences are easy to find at first, but every now and then, after looking so hard at each drawing, I’ve had to cheat and look at what the differences are which are listed upside down at the bottom of the drawings. When I finally see what the 6 differences are, I scratch my head and wonder, why couldn’t I pick those out  in the first place.

It’s kind of that way with life. When we were young we thought we knew it all and didn’t need the help of our parents or anyone else to get by in life. We were smart back then, or we thought we were. As we got older, it’s amazing how wise our parents, our teachers and those people with all the grey hair suddenly became.

In Marks’s account of the death of Jesus on the cross, we read in Mark 15:38-39 “The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, heard His cry and saw how He died, he saidSurely, this man was the Son of God!” (emphasis added)

Just as what took place with Saul, when Ananias laid hands on him to be filled with the Holy Spirit so he could see again, something like scales fell from this centurions eyes and he became full aware of who Jesus Christ really was.

I wonder how many Christians who go to church week after week, really know; are fully aware of who Jesus Christ is? What about you my friend? Are you fully aware of who Jesus Christ is and what He says in His Word about those who are His followers???
