He’s Not Here!!

One of the most frustrating things I can think of is when you are looking for a certain person and you are unable to find them. Someone gives you a heads up of the last location they were seen and when you get there, you hear those frustrating words: “He’s Not Here!”

A few days ago, one of our neighbors came up to me and in a very frustrating voice, asked me if I had seen his cat. Somehow his cat got out of the house and the cat’s owner was beside himself at the thought his cat was gone. He told me his cat, which he obviously loved very much, needed daily medication and he feared that the cat would die without that medication.

For days I would see this neighbor in tears as he searched for his beloved cat; it was heartbreaking to see. Our neighbor would go from house to house and ask people if they had seen his beloved cat and no one had an answer.

My wife said the other day as she was doing her morning walk, she came by our neighbor’s home and asked him if he ever found his cat. With a huge smile on his face and with a voice full of great relief and joy, he said he had.

This month, Christians celebrate the greatest holiday the church could ever celebrate, Easter Sunday or as it is commonly referred to as ‘Resurrection Sunday!’

In Matthew 28, we read where Mary Magdalene and the other Mary had gone to the tomb where Jesus had been buried to anoint His body. One can only imagine the amount of grief they had in their hearts. They saw their Lord, beaten to the inch of death, and nailed to a cross. They stood there as Jesus breathed His last breath. Now they just wanted to anoint His body.

Upon arriving to the tomb, they found the tomb was empty and an angel standing there. The angel told the grieving women, “Don’t be afraid, for I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen just as He said” (emphasis added)

We live in a world today that tries its very best to negate that Jesus rose from the grave, for if they acknowledge Jesus did that, then they would have to admit everything Jesus about who He was, was true.

Too often, as believers, because our eyes become focused on our trials and tribulations, somehow, we begin to believe Jesus doesn’t care of better yet, He’s nowhere to be found.

The good news of Easter Sunday is that Jesus is no longer in His tomb but alive!! He’s sitting at the right hand of the Father, interceding for us!

When the women heard this great news, they hurried away from the now empty to tell the disciples what they just saw and heard.

Jesus Christ, our Lord is alive and has won victory for our sins. Jesus eagerly looks forward to the time when He will come and gather His church, us! Let’s rejoice in that truth and never doubt it!
