Have you ever been caught in a lie and found yourself doing and saying everything and anything you can to defend your lie? I can only sadly speak from experience that is not a good place to be in.

Sadly, and not very proud of this, when I had been caught in a lie, I would say and do just about anything in the hopes of proving someone wrong who caught me in a lie. Though for the moment my lies to cover my original lie seemed to work, I knew deep down in my heart I was wrong for doing that.

In 1 Samuel 15, King Saul was instructed by the Lord, through Samuel the prophet, to attack the Amalekites and destroy everything that belonged to them. Saul was to put to death, men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels, and donkeys. In other words, nothing or no one was to be spared.

Saul attacked the Amalekites but decided to take their king Agag alive and the best of everything which was good, big mistake on Saul’s part. The Lord was grieved He made Saul king for he failed to carry out the Lord’s instructions. When confronted of his actions, Saul tried to lie to cover up his failure to obey the Lord’s instructions. The Lord removed Saul as king over Israel.

Another huge lie or attempt at deception is found after Jesus was resurrected from the grave. Some guards reported to the chief priests everything which had taken place concerning the resurrection of Jesus from the grave.

Fearing what this news would bring, the chief priests gave the soldiers some money to spread a lie that some of Jesus’ disciples came at night and stole His body.

Man’s attempt to deceive the people that Jesus did not resurrect from His grave has never worked and it never will. Sadly, this lie has given fuel to those who desperately look for an excuse to not acknowledge the resurrection of Jesus.

What’s crazy about those who look to believe a lie that Jesus never resurrected from His grave, doesn’t negate the truth that Jesus did rise from the grave and is alive and victorious today.

Lies only function are attempts to deceive from what is actually true. Sadly, some people fall to the lies to discredit Jesus’ resurrection by saying He was just a good man, a good teacher. Jesus was a good man, a good Teacher but the truth of the matter is Jesus Christ was God and so many struggle with that truth.

People would rather believe a man, some idol, a way of thinking or just about any attempt of man to discredit what is the truth. Jesus has risen! Jesus has won the victory over our sins, and He desires all would come to His saving grace.

That’s not a lie my friend, that’s the truth and once you accept that truth in your heart and not a lie, you can have eternal life. Lies never work, only the truth, Jesus, works! Give the truth, Jesus Christ, a chance by asking Him to be the Lord of your life. Trust me when I say, your life will never be the same!
