One of the many things I get the honor and privilege of officiating at as a Pastor are weddings. Weddings are a wonderful occasion for everyone to attend. Weddings are full of all kinds of emotion. Sometimes those emotions can take us down if we are not careful.

I remember a wedding I officiated at where the bride was in tears; an emotional wreck. So much we had to hold back the wedding ceremony a little bit so the bride could get her composure.

So why would the bride be so upset on her wedding, a day which should be the happiest day in her life. Here’s why: the color of the flowers in her wedding were not the color she wanted them to be.

Another time, as I was in the back with the groomsmen and the groom, waiting for the cue to start the wedding (most weddings never start on time) the groom, who was a very large man, came up to me and said with a very serious look on his face: “I hope you make this wedding ceremony short and sweet, OK”

I just looked at him and said it would be fine, but he insisted on me making the wedding ceremony quick. When I got permission to start the wedding, we all walked out and waited for the wedding party to make their entrance. All I could think of was that this very large man was going to take me out if I went too long.

When the time came for the bride to walk in, I turned to the groom and saw huge tears run down his face. Now I knew why he wanted the ceremony to be fast. Though he was a large, intimidating man, he was a big teddy bear at heart.

June is a popular month for weddings. One theory is, June is named after Juno, the Roman goddess of marriage and childbirth. It was believed that couples who married in June would be blessed with prosperity and happiness.

For believers, there is coming a wedding day that will be the greatest wedding celebration this world will ever see. Everything will be perfect at this wedding. The flowers will be beautiful, we won’t care how long the wedding will last, the food will be tremendous, and the celebration will be out of this world.

The first miracle recorded in the Bible which Jesus performed was at a wedding. When the wine ran out, Jesus asked that six stones jars be filled with water. When that was done, Jesus asked they draw some of the water out and take it to the master of the banquet. When the master of the banquet tasted the water, it had now been turned into the finest wine.

Revelation 19 speaks of the wedding of the Lamb which has come and what a wedding celebration that will be for those who have made Jesus Christ the Lord and Savior of their lives.

I have officiated at some weddings which were amazing because of their splendor. No cost was spared to make that wedding spectacular, a wedding to remember by all who attended.
