Greetings brothers and sisters in Christ and children of God,

The sound of silence can be deafening to the heart. However, when we truly find silence we begin to hear sounds that we often take for granted or completely forget about. I encourage you to sit in silence for just a few minutes and not utter a word. Close your eyes and you will begin to hear sounds you have often ignored or blocked out either intentionally or unintentionally. As you sit quietly with your eyes closed, begin to call out to God through your thoughts, not verbal sound. If you are not a believer then just sit and hear the quiet sounds around you. Just take a moment.

Was that refreshing and calming? Yes I did expect you to take a moment, so if you did not then take a moment. Did you find calmness in that moment? Well, if not, keep trying it, because God is waiting for you to hear Him. 

As parents, we want to hear from our children, regardless of how old they are. We understand the older children and the grown-up children have lives of their own, but we still want to hear from them. We want to listen to the good and the bad experiences and then give them insightful and loving words of encouragement and directions. We ourselves do not have life completely under control, so why would we think they do. They may think they do, but we know better and we want to show our love to them by listening and talking to them.

God the Father is the parent to us all and He just wants to hear about the events going on in your life, regardless if they are good or bad. He wants to hear it all. Yes He knows all and knows what you are going through, but communicating with the Father is part of the relationship. Listening is the key to all relationships. God is wanting and willing to listen to you, so talk to Him.

As I said before, the key to a relationship is listening, and therefore, you also need to listen to Him. By sitting quietly you can hear Him. You may not hear Him verbally but deep within yourself you will begin to hear a faint, soft, gentle voice speaking to you and there is a sense of warmth flowing over you and through you. Of course that is my interpretation of the moment, but you will feel a peace and calmness overcome you.

God does not really live on a set time, but He controls time, and so the quiet time does not have a set time either and it could happen quickly or it might take a while. But, since God is in control of time, He will not let you be late to wherever you need to get to or do. Take time to spend with Him and develop or strengthen the relationship with God. Get to know Him on an intimate level and a very personal level.

King David wrote many psalms about his relationship and communing with God. If you need a conversation started, then read some of what David wrote and I guarantee you that you will hear from God. Remember, God is a Father and fathers always want to spend time with their children because they love them. So enjoy your sound of silence with God.

Last week the little lambs learned how God called Moses to lead. This week we will be talking about the plagues of Egypt as we prepare to learn about the first of seven feasts the Israelites celebrated.

I look forward to worshiping with you Sunday as we sing praises to the Father with songs of joy and dance before the true God of all things. If for whatever reason I do not see you Sunday, may the Lord bless you with joy, peace, and words of wisdom and insight for your path, and may He comfort you, heal you, and direct you when you need it.
