“Fill Me Up” a message shared by Gail Roybal

“Have you ever taken a soda bottle and shaken it up and then taken the top off?  I bet you have, and what happened?  The contents of that bottle literally gushed up and over spraying anything and anyone in the near proximity.  This is what happens to the born again believers when they are baptized in the Holy Spirit.  We are filled to the point of gushing out so that we will be empowered to live an overcoming life in Christ and be effective in spreading the gospel message to a lost and dying world.  

After the Resurrection of Jesus, He spent 40 days with the disciples and while staying with them, He ordered them to stay in Jerusalem to wait for the promise of the Father telling them they would be baptized with the Holy Spirit and receive power. 

Acts 1:1-8.

Up until this time, the disciples had only received the Holy Spirit for salvation, when in John 20:22 Jesus breathed on them and said “receive the Holy Spirit”.  When the day of Pentecost arrived, everyone who was gathered in the upper room, waiting for the promise, then suddenly, there was the sound of a rushing mighty wind and everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began praising God in other tongues.  Acts 2:1-21. The church was now empowered and the disciples were never the same.  No longer afraid for their lives, but ready to die for Christ.   As Peter declared in Acts2:39 “This promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to Himself.”

Do you desire to be filled up so that you are bursting with the Holy Spirit?  Do you desire to have a victorious life in Christ?  Do you want God to empower you to do even greater works for the kingdom?  Then just ask the Holy Spirit to fill you up!”
