Enjoy this message from our Children’s Church leader, Michael Townsend.

Greetings, brothers and sisters in Christ and children of God,

Christmas time; the best time of the year. It is the time when music fills the air with sounds we are familiar with and often hum or whistle to, and some of us dance to it. Christmas lights that bring a smile of happiness with every flicker of a bulb. Some will escape in their thoughts as they stare at a crackling fire and sip on hot cocoa. And let’s not forget about the Christmas movies, both old and new. How about those Hallmark Christmas movies? All of them are showing us love at Christmas time. It is as if Christmas has been interrupted by Valentine’s Day with a slew of love stories. Hold it, love stories at Christmas?

People adore love stories because they bring hope. So many are looking for hope, and love is an emotion that brings hope when a person feels so down or lost. Love can be shown in so many ways, and watching a love story is one way a person can feel satisfied that there is still hope. So, it shouldn’t be a surprise that all the Christmas movies, especially Hallmark Christmas movies, are about finding love. Each one ending in love and happiness.

Do you remember the COVID years? I mean, when we were all contained in our homes and many felt hopeless. There was a trend that started to remind people of hope. People were encouraged, even in the middle of summer, to put up their Christmas lights. These lights carried with each blink a beacon of hope to anyone who saw them, because these lights were associated with Christmas, a time of hope and love.

I am here to tell you that true hope and love cannot be found in Christmas movies or Christmas lights, not even Christmas songs (my reminder). The only way to find true hope and love is to find Jesus. If you seek, you shall find (Matthew 7:7). Jesus and the Father will not force themselves upon you but are waiting for you to let them into your life. They are the only way to have everlasting hope and love, which cannot be found in the story of a movie. In fact, the real story is the story of Christ, who came so that man could be restored and live eternal life with the Father of all creation, including His creation of you.

There is a love story that is meant for this time of year. His name is Emmanuel, and he is Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Love is nothing without God, for God is love (1 John 4:8), and God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son (John 3:16).

Last week, we did not have children’s church because we were preparing for this week, our first week in the new building. It is very exciting to see God working. It is not always how we have planned, because our plan is less than His. We are just here to serve. Join us in our new building at 3455 Cliff Shadows Parkway, 89129. It is at the top of Cheyenne and right off the 215.

As Christmas is just a few weeks away, the little lambs will be learning about the birth of the child of peace who was sent to save man. We will begin by preparing the way.

I look forward to worshipping with you, with songs of praise and dancing before the Father of the holy child and Lord Jesus. If, for whatever reason, I do not see you tomorrow, may the Lord bless you with joy, peace, and happiness, and may He bless you with healing, comfort, and guidance when you need it.

God bless you,

Your brother in Christ,

Michael (aka Mr. Michael)
