A Message From Your New Day Children’s Church Leader
Greetings, brothers and sisters in Christ and children of God,
How do you view your Bible? Is it a book of short stories you read when you were a child, or you read to your children now? Do you seek answers from your Bible to questions about life? Is the Bible your compass through life, guiding you and teaching you life’s lessons, or is it a history book? I once called it a life manual that gives instructions on how to live. I believe the Bible is all of those things, but more.
The Word of God, which is encompassed in the Bible, is a living and breathing entity that brings forth strength, hope, and courage to the broken through love. When you are seeking answers, the Bible has them embedded throughout all the stories. Although it can be difficult to read and understand, even for the most scholarly and well-trained individual. To understand the Bible, you must rely on the Spirit of God, and through the Spirit, you will find your answers in the living, breathing Word that is in your Bible.
As I said before, there is more to the Bible than just the wisdom and guidance, or history, or stories. The Bible is much like the parables that Jesus told. Often hard to understand or hard to follow. Sometimes it can be easy to understand, and sometimes confusing. It also tells two stories, as parables do. Within the many stories, we find other stories about the grace of God, the love of Christ, and the movement of the Holy Spirit. Each time we pull back a layer of the Bible, we see something new. Our eyes opened to see what God wants us to see, at the time He wants us to see it. But wait, there’s more…
In the center of it all lies the core in which the true story is found in each of the stories and writings within the Bible. It is a story that is intertwined and woven by the hands of God, not to hide the truth of His purpose, but so believers will seek out that main story. It is a mission story.
God had a mission to create man and to teach man a righteous way of living like God. God knew man would fall short of being perfect, but had a plan, a mission, to bring man into a full circle with Him. Because the first Adam broke the relationship with God through disobedience, God’s mission is to restore man. God is calling all believers to join the mission of restoration. He is reaching out to the non-believers to show them His love and grace, and call them to become part of the family of believers, and lead them to the mission.
So I ask you again, how do you view your bible? There is nothing wrong with viewing your Bible as the ways written earlier, but I hope now you will read it and see the mission that God has for you.
Last week, the little lambs learned about the parables of the Unforgiving Servant and the Prodigal Son. We learned it is difficult to forgive and just as hard to ask to be forgiven. We must humble ourselves and ask for forgiveness, and we also must forgive, because God forgives us when we fail Him. This week, the children will go back in time to learn the story of Abram and Lot and their choices as they find it is better to trust God and obey Him.
I also want to remind you that there is a fellowship potluck after service, so come hungry for the physical food as well as the spiritual food.
I look forward to worshipping with you tomorrow as we give praises to our Lord with songs and dance before Him who loves us and wants to have a restored relationship with us. If, for whatever reason, I do not see you tomorrow, may the Lord bless you with joy, peace, and a cup of love that is overflowing, and may He comfort you, heal you, and give you strength when you need it.
God bless you,
Your brother in Christ
Michael (aka Mr. Michael)
