“Unfailing?!?”

People at our church are always hearing me pick a certain word in a Scripture verse I am using when I speak and looking up the definition of that word.

The reason I do that is when I was in school, the definition of certain words didn’t mean so much to me. Instead of looking the word up to see what it meant, I would make up my own definition of what that word meant. Most of the time I was way off on what that word meant.

When I first read Psalm 119:76 “May Your unfailing love be my comfort, according to Your promise to Your servant” I was so struck by what an unfailing love actually was.

I looked up the word unfailing and found some interesting definitions. ‘Without error or fault’ – ‘Bottomless’ – ‘Inexhaustible’ – ‘Eternal’ – ‘Steadfast’ to name a few

Though I grew up in a religious home, attending Mass every Sunday, I was always under the impression I could never be loved by God because I sinned and hoped that someone would pray me into heaven

Even after I gave my life to the Lord I still struggled with thinking the Lord loved me with an unfailing love. I was told that when I gave my life to the Lord and that thought moved me so but letting that truth live in my heart was tough.

One day after listening to the late great Charles Stanley speak about God’s unfailing love for us, something about he said pierced my heart and mind and for the first time I believed the Lord loved me with His unfailing love. What a great day that was for me and my walk with the Lord.

The month of February is known for February 14th, known as Valetines Day. People send flowers, buy cards and candy to give to those they say they love but is their love unfailing?

We tend to love conditionally, and it doesn’t take much for our love to wane if those we say we love hurt us.

I have failed the Lord more times than I would want to talk about, but when I go to Lord and seek His forgiveness, His unfailing love is right there to comfort me.

The Lord’s unfailing love truly is ‘Without error or fault’ ‘Bottomless’ – ‘Inexhaustible’  ‘Eternal’ – ‘Steadfast’ and so much more than we could ever imagine.

Has the truth that the Lord loves you with an unfailing love entered your heart and mind? Let His unfailing love comfort you not only today but every day going forward!
