Cherishing Time: Building a Relationship with God: A Message from New Day Christian Church

Greetings, brothers and sisters in Christ and children of God,

How do you spend your time? Time can be very costly, but how do you put a price on time? Its value is so extreme because once it is gone, it can never be retrieved. You can throw money out the window and then work to replace it, but time, once it is gone, cannot be replaced. Try to get time back for a loved one. Try to get time back to do what you desire, but no longer can because the moment is gone.

God is the Creator of all things, including time, by first speaking light into existence (Genesis 1:3). The scripture says that on the fourth day God placed the stars, moon, and sun to give light and separate the day from the night and to mark the seasons, the days, and the years (Genesis 1:14-16). This was the creation of time. Before this, God was not bound by time, nor is He bound by time now or ever will be. God is infinite, and we can not understand what that means, for we are bound by time.

God, however, breaks all barriers that bind us. Not just our chains of sin that bind us, but time that binds us on earth. By His grace, we are set free from the bondage of sin, but also the bondage of time, for when we accept Christ as our Savior, we are set free from our sin, and we will have eternal life with the Father and the Creator of all things, including time.

Time is short, and we need to make sure we take advantage of the time we have here in the flesh and cherish those moments. Although the moments with family and friends are important, so is the time with God. Sure, you will have time eternal with Him, but now is the time to get to know Him. Just like in any relationship, there is a time to get to know the person you are planning to live the rest of your life with, and to have an eternal life with the Father, it is best to build that relationship by getting to know Him. You get to know Him by reading His Word, being in church, and being surrounded by others who are in a relationship with Him. Talking to others about Him, and most importantly, talking to Him. In short, spend time with Him. Time is very valuable, so spend it wisely.

Last week, the little lambs learned, through the story of Nicodemus, what it means to be born again. It is not by flesh we are born again, but by Spirit. When we come to know Jesus and accept Him as our Savior, we accept a new life, a new beginning, a new spirit, and therefore, are born again. This week, we will be learning about John the Baptist and preparing the way for Christ.

I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow. Praise the Lord in all that you do and all that you go through, for it is not for nothing, but something that God is using you to teach others about Him. If, for whatever reason, I do not see you tomorrow, may the Lord bless you with joy, peace, and love, and may He counsel you, guide you, heal you, and comfort you when you are in need.

God bless you,

Your brother in Christ,

Michael (aka Mr. Michael)
