Greetings, brothers and sisters in Christ and children of God,
It seems that spring has sprung in Las Vegas. However, I do not trust the weather people, as their crystal balls are often foggy. I do trust nature, but at times, nature can often joke with me or tease me. With the warmer weather comes many changes this time of year. In many places, there are the common four seasons, but in Las Vegas, there are mostly two seasons, summer and winter, with a short touch of spring or fall. Changes nonetheless in our seasons.
Have you ever stopped to consider the seasons? In the beginning, God created something from nothing. The earth was formless and empty (Gen 1:1), and God formed it by speaking the words, “Let there be light,” and then He separated the light from the darkness (Gen 1:3-5). God’s creation of the earth is so amazing and fascinating when you take a moment to see the extraordinary details of what God did in preparing for the creation of man. In doing so, God created time through the sun, the moon, and the stars. He did this to mark the times, and days, and years (Gen 1:14). He created our seasons.
In scripture, seasons can have more than one meaning. One of the meanings of course is how we see it today, as the change in the weather and time that make up a year. The other meaning is a particular time of our lives. There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens (Eccl 3:1).
However, with the seasons of nature, we can have certain storms such as hurricanes, tornadoes, thunderstorms with rain and hail, snowstorms, and all storms that we must endure for their particular season. All storms have their purpose, that we do not often see, but God has a plan for those storms that cover His creation, He calls Earth. These storms bring change, but God does not allow things to happen that do not bring Him glory, for all He does is for the glory of Him who is the Creator of all things and is in control of all things big and small.
Sometimes these storms can be painful, like the birthing of a child. Labor pains, as it is called. The Earth must endure these labor pains in order to grow, mature, and change. After the storms, after the labor pains, emerges a new beginning, a new birth, a new season.
The Earth was God’s creation, and then God created man. All of His creations must enter a season and must exit a season to only enter a new season. It is during these seasons that His creations come to rely on Him, grow close to Him, and change. God is a Changemaker, and through the seasons and labor pains of your life, He will change you as He continues to transform you into the Christ-like being He wants you to become.
So, embrace the seasons, embrace the storms, embrace the labor pains, and embrace God.
Last week, the little lamb learned about John the Baptist. They also learned where honey comes from and how it is made, since John ate locusts with honey. Do not worry, no locusts were harmed in the teaching of this lesson, but we did learn about locusts, too, and had honey sandwiches. This week, we will return to the Old Testament and read about the Israelites in Egypt and how Pharaoh’s heart was so hard that not even 10 plagues would convince him that there was only one true God.
I look forward to worshipping with you tomorrow with songs or praise to the Creator of all creation and dancing before Him who brings a new season every day. If, for whatever reason, I do not see you, may the Lord bless you with love, joy, peace, and may He comfort you, guide you, and heal you when you are in need.
God bless you
Your brother in Christ
Michael (aka Mr. Michael)
