Strengthening Your Relationship with God and Each Other: A Message From New Day Christian Church

Greetings, brothers and sisters in Christ, and children of God.

Relationships are important to God. He created man in His own image (Genesis 1:27) and from man created woman by using the rib, which comes from the side of the man He created (Genesis 2:22). God was, and still is, a spiritual being, yet made man, which is a physical being. God knew that man needed to have another physical being and therefore created woman. He wanted man to have a relationship with another being, so He created a helper (Genesis 2:18). But the two were never meant to walk the journey alone or on separate paths. Man and woman were meant to become one and walk the path together.

God’s plan was that the man would leave his father and his mother and unite with his wife, and the two would become one flesh (Genesis 2:24).  God developed a relationship with man and then created another being to have a relationship with, and together the man and woman have a relationship. This relationship that God built or created was to become one, and the two together are to have a relationship with God.

When a man and a woman come together in their relationship, there comes a time when they want to take the relationship to the next level and build a family and a home. If you have ever watched how a home is built, they always start with the floor. They create a foundation for the house to sit on, and then they begin adding the walls, windows, doors, and even a patio or porch. Then, of course, a roof is built to complete the house and help it to remain stable and provide protection for the home.

If a relationship is not first built on a firm foundation, then the relationship can be weak, can struggle, and can even fail, just like the walls of a house that sits on a weak foundation. When the house falls, there is much damage. When a relationship falls there is much damage. It does not mean that the damage cannot be restored, but there are scars left on the house and on a relationship.

This is why it is better to first work on the relationship with God and then work on the relationship with one another, so that the structure of the relationship is strong. First love God and then love others (Matthew 22:37-40). However, it is not too late to restore or establish a firm foundation. Begin by working on yourself and building a relationship with God, and as you do, begin to connect with the one God has given you to love just as He loved you (1 John 4:19).

When you come together as one, you, together, walk in the relationship with God; you walk as three in one. Much like the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit moving together as one. It must begin with the individual anchoring into the Holy Spirit, through Christ and God. When each is individually anchored, then together they can move as one into a deeper relationship with each other and with God.

Last week, the little lambs continued the lesson on the Fruit of the Spirit, as we discussed kindness and goodness. This week, we will wrap up the Fruit with faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

I look forward to worshiping with you this week with songs of praise and dancing before the Master of relationships. If, for whatever reason, I do not see you, may the Lord bless you with peace, joy, and happiness, and may He comfort you, heal you, and strengthen you when you are in need.

New Day Christian Church of Las Vegas meets every Sunday at 10AM. Children can be dropped off upstairs at 9:45. Youth attends worship and then goes to youth group with their youth leader. New Day is located at 3455 Cliff Shadows Parkway.
