Greetings, brothers and sisters in Christ and Children of God,
Did you like science? Have you ever gone to a science museum? There used to be a natural science museum here in Las Vegas, but now there is a children’s museum that has science exhibits. I recall going with my dad to a science and natural museum in Chicago once. Science can be amazing. I was always drawn to space and weather.
It is often fun to look at clouds and see some of the shapes they make. Commonly, the big, puffy, rolling-looking clouds are called cumulus clouds. When it rains, these are the clouds that are seen. The larger they are, the more activity is generated. They can produce stronger weather effects, including thunder and lightning.
But how does this work? Clouds form from the evaporation of lakes, rivers, oceans, or even soil, releasing water vapor as heat from the Sun evaporates water. As the warm, moist air rises, it cools and expands due to changes in atmospheric pressure. When the air cools below its dew point, it becomes saturated and can no longer hold all the water vapor, triggering condensation. In short, the bottom falls out, and we get rain. That is the science behind weather, but God created science.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Gen 1:1). The Hebrew word Eretz can mean both “earth” and “land.” In this sense, the verse may be understood as saying that God created the heavens and the land.
The passage then describes the formation of the earth as land and water. As creation unfolds, the sun begins to warm the water, setting the water cycle in motion. The heat from the sun warms the water over the land, causing evaporation that rises into the atmosphere, and as it cools, it returns to water and, because of gravity, must fall back to the earth and water the plants that began to grow.
Many have argued that there is no God and that creation was created by science, but nothing can create itself; therefore, God is the creator of science, which He used to create all that you see. God’s creation should be given thanks and praise. God, not science, should be acknowledged for what it is: a miracle by the working hands of God.
David praises God and His creations in Psalm 8. He describes the creation we read in Genesis. He begins and ends with the same verse. Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth (Psalm 8:1,9). David also writes that God created the heavens (Psalm 19:1). The king and poet David praises God through his writings for all His creations. We too must look in awe of the creations of God and give praise. It is not by science that the universe, the earth, or even man was created, but by God. Let us give Him praise!!!
Last week, the little lambs investigated the brothers at odds. Of course, I am talking about Jacob and Esau. These smart sheep detectives went to work to answer the question, “How do you know Jacob and Esau were real?” Looking at three pieces of evidence, they found proof that both were real through ancient historical records, archaeological evidence, and confirmation from Jesus. This week, they will be searching for clues to prove the existence of Joseph as we look at his story of being sold into slavery, being a leader in Egypt, and forgiving his brothers.
I look forward to worshiping among you tomorrow with songs of praise and glory to the King, and dancing before the One who loves you. If, for whatever reason, I do not see you, may the Lord bless you with joy and peace, and may He guide you, heal you, and protect you,
God bless you
Your brother in Christ,
Michael (aka Mr. Michael)
