Greetings, brothers and sisters in Christ and children of God, we hope you and your children are able to join us this Sunday. Church service is downstairs at 10AM and you can drop your children off upstairs at 9:45 for Sunday School. The nursery for babies and toddlers is also upstairs.
How is your faith this week? It is easy for us to say that we have faith, but what happens when it feels as fragile as a glass that shatters on the floor? Just as broken glass needs to be put back together, shattered faith needs restoration.
Doubt, distrust, personal loss, betrayal, and disappointment can shake our faith and draw attention away from God. Faith rests on a foundation, and when that foundation is damaged, rebuilding takes time. Restoration begins by acknowledging where we are struggling and turning toward God for help.
The road to restoration involves reconnecting with God and other believers. Hebrews calls us to encourage one another and spur each other on toward love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24-25). We can take steps toward faith restoration by praying for our struggles, repenting of our sins, fellowshipping with believers, and humbling ourselves to share with others that our faith has become broken and ask for help.
Good deeds give expression to faith. For it is written that if someone claims to have faith, but no deeds, then the faith is dead (James 2:14-17). It is the good deeds that edify your faith. James points to Abraham’s willingness to offer his son as a sacrifice, and Rahab’s protection of the spies as examples of faith demonstrated through action (James 2:21-25). He sums up the relationship plainly: faith without deeds is dead (James 2:26).
If your faith feels broken, begin with prayer, fellowship, and acts of service. Good deeds can encourage you as you rebuild, while also making your faith visible to those around you. You do not have to walk this road alone. Gather with other believers, seek their support, and put your faith into action.
Last week, we did not have children’s church. This week, the little lambs will use the story of David and King Saul to show that the Bible isn’t ancient myths like Greek legends, but a record of real events that happened in history.
I look forward to worshiping with you and praising the Lord and Redeemer through songs of glory and dancing before Him. If for whatever reason I do not see you tomorrow, may the Lord bless you with joy, peace, and abundant love, and may He comfort you, guide you, and heal you when you are in need.
God bless you,
Your brother in Christ,
Michael (aka Mr. Michael)
