Before I came to know Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior I was in a desperate search for peace. As that saying goes, ‘I was looking for peace in all the wrong places, with all the wrong motives’

I think most people are in search for peace, however they choose to define peace. I grew up in the 60’s. The 60’s is a decade known for the notion of peace, love and rock and roll as the pop culture trends changed.

The 60’s is also sadly remembered as the time of the Vietnam War, where thousands of young men died. Drugs became a huge influence in the 60’s and rebellion was on top of the minds of so many young people.

During the Vietnam War the peace sign became a huge thing to flash for Hippies and those who were opposed to the Vietnam War. Two fingers which formed a ‘V’ with the palms facing outward became the national sign for peace. If you faced some sort of conflict or you wanted to make a statement, you would flash the peace sign and everything would be fine, not true at all.

There was so much hatred in the hearts of people back then that a simple gesture of two fingers forming a ‘V’ was not about to calm anyone’s nerves or anger. Though I am sure at certain times I flashed the peace sign back in those days, I always thought it was a funny thing to do. True peace would take more than just two fingers forming a ‘V’ to see peace take place.

When our Lord Jesus rose from His grave, signifying peace for man had been won by His victory over the grave, the two women who visited the empty grave ran to tell the disciples the great news.

While the two women were talking to the disciples, the Risen Jesus stood before them, despite the doors being locked and said, “Peace be with you!” Jesus didn’t have to put up two fingers in the form of a ‘V’, He had the scars of the crucifixion on His body which were the true signs of victory and peace

We still have wars and conflict in our world today. Hatred and prejudice still reside in the hearts of many. The lust for the things of the world runs high in many hearts. Disease and lawlessness is worse today than it’s ever been.

Yet, despite all that bad news, peace in the form of our Risen Lord Jesus Christ is available to anyone who would ask Jesus into their lives and make Him the Lord of their life Is peace with you my friend? You can enjoy true peace with Jesus Christ at the helm of your life!
