Welcome to New Day Christian Church of Las Vegas, enjoy this weekly message from our Children’s church teacher. Children and Youth meet every Sunday after worship in the Kid’s Club Area.
Greetings, brothers and sisters in Christ and children of God,
Have you ever been asked how you would describe yourself? It is not uncommon in a job interview to be asked that question or other various questions about your character. Do you know yourself, honestly? Of course, God knows you better than anyone, and that includes you. He created you and knew you before you were even in the womb (Psalm 139; Jeremiah 1:5).
Most would commonly reply that they are a good person, and they would be right in saying so, because there are no bad people in this world. Only bad things that people do, and it is the doing that seems to characterize us by the judgment of others.
Is it okay to be judged by others or to judge others? Yes, it is, as long as it aligns with God. Christians commonly misunderstand Matthew 7:1 when Jesus says, “do not judge.” However, the following verse says that how you judge others is the way you will be judged. For God uses righteous measurements, and so how you judge others, He will judge you in the same way. This section of the chapter refers to hypocritical judgment of others, and therefore, be careful how you judge others.
That being said, is your character one who is judgmental of others, and if so, how do you judge others? Do you seek guidance from the Lord before you pass judgment on others? We are told to seek first God’s righteousness (Matthew 6:33) and let Him guide the decisions you make based on your judgment.
You may be a good person, but it is not the work you do that makes you a good person, but the position of your heart. To honestly answer the question of how you describe yourself, you must first look at your heart and know its position. Examine your heart and ask God to show you what He sees in your heart and how to change your heart to be more like Christ, His son.
The first step to righteous living and God’s blessing is believing in Christ and acknowledging Him as your Savior who died for your sins. It is the belief in Christ that opens the door to the mercy of God and His salvation for you. Always remember that God loves you, and He created you, and He knows you. He desires to have an eternal relationship with you.
Last week, the little lambs read the story of how God used Moses to lead the Israelites across the Red Sea and saved them from the Egyptians. This week we will learn how God led His children into the wilderness and how He always provided for them with water and food, and how He was always with them.
I look forward to worshiping with you tomorrow, the Lord, our Maker and our Judge, but if I do not see you, may the Lord bless you with joy, peace, and guidance in your journey. May He keep you safe, and heal you financially, physically, emotionally, and, importantly, heal you spiritually.
God bless you,
Your brother in Christ,
Michael (Mr. Michael)
