Greetings, brothers and sisters in Christ and children of God,
The school year is coming to a close. Some students are graduating from college, some from high school, some are shifting from middle school to high school or elementary to middle school, and some are finishing their first year of school. Boy, did time fly. It is so hard to believe that just a short time ago, the children were learning to walk; now they are spreading their wings and about to take flight.
Time is a funny thing, isn’t it? Time was created by God for man. God set the moon, the stars, and the sun into place and is responsible for the whole universe and how it ticks. Yes, the pun was intentional. God’s placement of everything was also intentional so that we can have time, months, and even years. For God, there is no time. He is not confined to time. God is timeless and therefore lives in infinity.
We as humans cannot fathom infinity, and perhaps that is why God made a time limit for us on this earth, so we can experience time and learn about infinity. A discussion for another time. However, when we leave this earth and wake up on the other side, we will not even know that time has passed, but it will feel like it was instant.
When people die, they have engraved on their tombstone a birth date and a death date, and in between is a dash that fills the space for the time you were here. The question is, if someone were able to look deep into that dash, what would they see that you did while on this earth? God sees that dash, up close and personal.
We only have a certain amount of time on this earth to fill that dash. Once the dash is complete, there is nothing we can do. If you have already chosen to follow Christ, then you should take that time to share the love of Christ and the eternal story of Christ with others so they may do the same. If you are not a follower of Christ, then it is not too late to get to know him and open the door to eternal life. However, once the door closes on your time on earth and the dash ends, it will be too late.
So, how do you want to fill your dash of time? Again, pun intended, but a real question.
Last week, the little lambs heard the story of how Jesus forgave Paul and commissioned the disciples to go out and make disciples of others. This week, we are returning to the Old Testament and seeing how God protected His children as they wandered the wilderness after they escaped Egypt.
I look forward to our time of worshiping together tomorrow with songs of praise and dance before the Creator of time. If, for whatever reason, I do not see you tomorrow, may the Lord bless you with peace, joy, and a cup overflowing with love, and may He heal you, comfort you, and guide you when you need it.
God bless you,
Your brother in Christ
Michael (aka Mr. Michael)
