Greetings, brothers and sisters in Christ and children of God,
“Are you seeking great things for yourself?” We find these words in Jeremiah 45:5 as Jeremiah gives a personal word to his scribe. These words come from the Lord, and Jeremiah tells the scribe not to seek great things because the Lord is going to bring disaster on all flesh, but He will spare the scribe’s life as a prize wherever he goes. Although this scripture was intended for a time before the Babylonian invasion and, in fact, was a prophecy of things to come, we can still apply those words to our lives today.
Often in life, we find ourselves seeking opportunities to advance ourselves in some form. Perhaps in a financial gain, or social status, or simply to fulfill a void we are missing, and have a desire to feel better about ourselves or our lives. These are items to fill the voids of the flesh, which will one day be extinct. We are to seek what God desires for us and be rewarded through Him who brings eternal life. We must remind ourselves of our humble ways and trust God, for His ways and His plans are far greater than our ways or our plans.
It is natural for us to desire joy, to desire peace, to desire happiness, but truly, the objects of the flesh will not fill the desires of the flesh, because the flesh will always want and never be satisfied. These desires also will not bring what God has for us. True joy, happiness, and peace can only come from the Spirit of God. If we work and bring those things to ourselves, they will only fall away, but if those things are given to us by the grace of God, they will be much more cherished and will never fall away. If we trust God and embrace humility, then we will receive a deeper peace, a deeper joy, and a deeper happiness through God.
Scripture tells us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all things will be added to you (Matthew 6:33). Therefore, seek the Lord in all that you do and in all that you seek, for He will bless you as you deserve. He will honor your works when you first seek Him. So, do not seek for yourself, but seek for God and be blessed wherever you go.
Last week, the little lambs learned about a man named Simon, who wanted to buy the healing power of God from the Apostles after seeing Phillip heal a man. He was known as Simon the Sorcerer. This week, we will return to the Old Testament as we examine how King David demonstrates love, kindness, and mercy to a young boy named Mephibosheth, the son of Johnathan, the son of Saul.
I look forward to worshiping the Lord with you tomorrow through songs of praise and dancing before the Lord who blesses the humble and meek. If, for whatever reason, I do not see you tomorrow, may the Lord bless you with joy, peace, and love, and may He comfort you, guide you, and heal you when you need it.
God bless you
Your brother in Christ,
Michael (aka Mr. Michael)
